daughter. She tried to hide the label so that he might not know her identity.

Ans. We
feel that after knowing her identity from the label on her suit case, the man

Ans.
This audience is Likely to suspect it when the man told Mrs. Oakentubb that he
was going to kill the lady who had taken the lives of two innocent pedestrians

Ans. The
only motive for murdering her is that he wanted to take revenge from her for

Ans. The
author successively builds up the tension throughout the drama. When he
explained the incident in which his wife and daughter had murdered. He put all
the blame on Mrs. Oakentubb. Another moment of tension is that when he told ber
that he was going to shoot her by showing his revolver. Similarly the tension
was created when he finally come back, opened the door,
took al the
revolver and shoot her dead.

Ans. The
porter is a humorous character because it provides relaxation from the tense
environment of the drama, its tragedy and sad effects.

Ans.
The author kept his audience in suspense that he would go to Strain Thrope to
saw Mrs. Oakentubb who had killed his wife and daughter in car accident. He
asked questions to her about Mrs. Oakentubb appearance while helped him in her recognition.
When he was about to kill her, the suspense creates when he told her about his
decision to kill her and the lady apologized, tried to convinced him to spare
her life.

Mrs.
Oakentubb is the leading character in the drama. She is a rich, clever, and
intelligent woman. She is coward inside but appears to be fearless before the
man and tries to ,get rid of the fear of death. Generally, she wears hat,
scarf: gloves and fur coat. We don’t have any idea about her age but by her
dressing, she looks young. Her hair is brown. She is wearing a wedding ring.
Over all, she seems to be the wife of a rich business man and fond of cocktail
parties.
