INTRODUCTION Technical drawing and its application..

Drawing is a medium of expression of ideas, thoughts and feelings. An artist expresses his thought, human experience through his artwork known as artistic drawing. Similarly, an engineer also creates his work gives concrete shape to his ideas and design through technical drawing.
A drawing is a graphical representation of a real object. The purpose of a drawing is to define and specify the shape and size of a particular object by means of lines. A good drawing gives full information about the object in a precise way. Therefore a drawing is the shortest of short hands the most important requirement for all technical person working in an engineering environment is through knowledge of engineering drawing. It is the universal graphical language of engineers, a language of use and ever increasing value, and spoken, read and written in a particular style. As is the case with any language, engineering drawing has also been devised according to certain rules and has its own grammar.
Sketching is a freehand expression in graphical language, and it is the most ' important tool for engineers engaged in technical work. Technical ideas can be expressed quickly and effectively by sketches without the use of instruments.

PRACTICAL USE OF TECHNICAL DRAWING/ENGINEERING DRAWING

An engineer expresses his ideas on a paper through the medium of drawing. A complete working drawing of a job is followed by giving an accurate shape to the raw materials according to the drawing.
If the engineer commits an error in the initial drawing, it is carried over to the practical work by others, resulting in the loss of time, material, labour, and finally affects the production efficiency of the factory. Therefore, it is extremely important for engineers, designers, supervisors, draftsmen, mechanics, and other working in an engineering environment to have a thorough knowledge of engineering drawing.
Developing interest in engineering drawing will help in learning it easily. A quick understanding of an original drawing and the ability to make a sketch can be arrived if a person is familiar with the concepts of engineering drawing. The shape size and manufacturing methods of a job can be easily understood from die drawing once we develop the necessary skills. Accuracy and speed are developed by practice. Accuracy in the drawing must come first, quality must come before quantity pencils and all the drawing instruments should be kept in good condition so that they may give maximum working efficiency. Every care should be taken to make on accurate drawing.

CLASSIFICATION OF DRAWING:

The drawing may be classified into two main groups.
(1)    Artistic Drawing.
(2)    Engineering Drawing or Technical Drawing.

(1)    Artistic Drawing:

The art of representation of an object such as painting, cinema, slide, advertisement boards etc by the artist by his imaginations or keeping the object before him is known as Artistic Drawing.
The artist tricks to produce the object in the shape of a picture by giving various shades and colours. Dimensions and other details are not given in it, however one can appreciates the shape and size of the object. The artist commonly uses the artistic drawing for commercjal purposes i.e. in painting, advertisement boards, cinemas slide etc.

(2)    Engineering or Technical Drawing:

The art of representation of engineering objects such as buildings roads, machines etc. on a paper is called engineering drawing. The subject of engineering drawing can be divided from engineering point of view into the following categories.
(1)Geometrical Drawing.
(i)    Plane geometrical drawing.
(ii)    Solid geometrical drawing.
(2)Mechanical Engineering Drawing.
(3)Civil Engineering Drawing.
(4)Electrical and Electronics Engineering Drawing.
(5)Architectural DrawingStructural Drawing
(7)Topographical Drawing(8)Piping Drawing
(9)Welding Drawing /(10)Machine Drawing
(11)One View Drawing(12)Detailed Drawing
(13)Assembly Drawing(14)Foundation Drawing
(15)Design Drawing(16)Working Drawing
(17)Exploded Drawing(18)Pictorial Drawing
(19)Freehand Drawing
